How-to Make Your Own .Gifs

Here you will find out how to make your own animations! This is a step by step guide on how to do these fun little animations...

Before we start making movies we need a gif converter rite? A gif converter is what allows you to put the movies together. I recommend Gif Movie Gear, that's why I will use it in the how-to guide. Go to www.tucows.com and at the search box you will want to type in "Gif Movie Gear"

Once you hit "Enter" or click "Search" it will take you to the Gif Animator. From there you can click the download now button and get crackin'! It's only a 810k download so it shouldn't take long.

Now that you clicked download now you should see something that reads "Pick A Region", choose wherever your from and then you will have to enter were you whould like to download from, i'm from the US so I would then choose the state which is Pennsylvania. Then once all that is done you should be downloading...

Here's how to put the animation together and post is on the web!

Open up MS Paint by going Start Menu>Programs>Acessories>Paint then choose the line tool and then the largest line. You will then want to choose the circle tool and then the normal empty circle. Choose a color, Then drag you mouse on the paper to make the outline of face. Go back to the line tool and make it the thinnest one. Then back to the circle tool, and now mack eyes, preferably round eyes. Go to the paintbrush tool and select the medium sized dot using black. Place eyeballs in the eye holes we just made. And Now Go to the file menu and choose save. Save it to the documents file or to a costomized folder. To make a costomized folder, right-click on the desktop and choose new, then folder and type in "Gifs" for a file name. Now you can save to this new folder bye going to the "Save In" spot and choosing the new folder you made(should be "Gifs"). Call it something like "blink", something simple and easy to remember.

Now open up Gif Movie Gear and choose "Continue" then choose "Open Existing Animation". Now go to the folder you made(i'm guessing Gifs) and choose your animation(if you are following along it should be blink). Hit open or double click on it, Now it should come up on the screen, save it. You can name it the same name if you want.

Minimize Gif Movie Gear and go back into Paint. Now you can add to the animation. Go to the line tool and choose the same color as the face, Draw a line across the upper part of the eye and the lower as if he was about to blink. Save that as the same one last time and you can say yes to overwrite this file. Go into Gif Movie Gear and and click anywere away from your animation to make sure it doesn't have a red border around it. Now choose the red button(should say Insert Frame if you hold your mouse on it) next to the save button. Insert the new frame, blink, and it should apear there! Now go back into Paint and make the eye seem closed even more, BUT NOT SHUT! Save it to the file blink. Repeat the Insert frame process then go back to Paint and make the eye shut, save to the file blink. Insert The new gif as usuall and, Viola! Now go to the disk icon and hit it, save it as blink or whatever you want and your done! You can click the play button to see how it came out.

Now you will have to upload it to a webpage. I recommend getting an account at Tripod, you get a full 11MB of webspace, which is a lot!

                                                     Have Fun!
